all we need of God

is already within us

to be a high mountain leaning over a lake

if we shift or stir even slightly

we shake and muddy the waters below

but if we settle so still

we see ourselves reflected deep within

so strong we strike the sky without reaching

so fair we catch the sun without clutching

and when we stay so still

that is when God walks in the waters

and at His touch they do not tremble

but still themselves anew

washed of worry by His whispered hands

clean and clear

He holds them up like winter glass

to show how beautiful we can be

-translated from Old Elvish, commonly attributed to Vician Orn the ancient dragonslayer
